Hi, I'm Jamie! I'm a 3rd year Medical Sciences student on the Human Genomics pathway. I am the coordinator for year 1 Medical Sciences mentoring. My aim is for sessions to be helpful and informative. You can ask me and my team about anything, we're here for you.
My favourite modules in first year were Genetics and Fundamental Skills for Medical Sciences. In my second year, I studied Medical Genetics, Molecular Biology of the Gene, Genomics and Introductory Bioinformatics, and The Biology of Cancer.
This year, I will be taking Bioinformatics, Medical Genomics, and Applied Data Science. My final year project is 'Evaluating scientific and/or ethical approaches to newborn screening with whole genome sequencing (WGS) using UK Biobank'.
Please email me if you have any questions about the year and connect with me on LinkedIn.
Second year, BSc Medical Sciences
eleanor@medscimentors.co.uk
Hey, I'm Eleanor and I am a second-year Medical Sciences student.
My favourite module last year was Fundamental Skills as I enjoyed the topic from my scientific communication group and found developing skills from the literature review and presentation to be very useful.
This year my optional modules are: Genomics and Introductory Bioinformatics, Coding for Medical Scientists, Advanced Cellular Biology and Introduction to Pharmacology.
I really enjoyed my first year and I am happy to answer any questions relating to the course or just life at Exeter.
Second year, BSc Medical Sciences
flossie@medscimentors.co.uk
Hi everyone, I'm Felicity but everyone calls me Flossie!
This will be my second year on the Medical Sciences course. In my first year I really enjoyed Integrated Human Physiology - I found the group work aspect of this module particularly engaging.
This year I am taking Molecular Biology of the Gene, Introduction to Pharmacology, Introduction to Neuroscience and Immunopathology.
I hope the MedSci Mentors Scheme really helps you all to settle into first year, I am always happy to answer any questions :)

Hello, I'm Harry, I am a second-year MedSci student on the Pharmacology & Therapeutics pathway. My favourite modules in my first year were Integrated Human Physiology and the Scientific Communication Group Literature Review (Fundamental Skills).
Modules for Year 2: Pharmacology, Experimental Pharmacology, Coding for Medical Sciences and Advanced Cell Biology.
As a neurodivergent individual, I aim to offer an alternative perspective on the challenges students may face during their first year, including the transition to university life and any associated difficulties, especially for other neurodivergent students.
Second year, BSc Medical Sciences
HollyE@medscimentors.co.uk
Hi my name is Holly and I am taking Introduction to Pharmacology, The Biology of Cancer, Medical Genetics and Molecular Biology of the Gene in my second year.
One of my favourite first year modules was Integrated Human Physiology, as I really enjoy physiology and I also loved how interactive the SSGL sessions were.
My goal is to eventually go on to research cancer and hopefully go into medicine.
Second year, BSc Medical Sciences
HollyF@medscimentors.co.uk
My favourite module from last year was Biochemistry as it bridges the gap between A Level Biology and Chemistry and I think eased me into university.
Next year I am studying Medical Genetics, Molecular Biology of the Gene, The Biology of Cancer and Advanced Microbiology!

will@medscimentors.co.uk
Hi guys, I'm Will, embarking on my 2nd year here at Exeter.
Like many others, my favourite module last year was IHP (Integrated Human Physiology). I particularly enjoyed SSGL (structured small group learning) in this module where we created friendships whilst developing a deep understanding into human processes in an open and inclusive environment.
This year I will be taking Immunopathology, Advanced Microbiology, Introduction to Neuroscience and either Decolonising Medicine or Spanish.
Returning to Exeter, I hope to keep striving for medicine, continue appreciating our surroundings and as a team help you all love it here too.
